a zine

"Tides of Time" is a conceptual zine I created that explores themes of impermanence, connection, and self-discovery through the lens of a whispering seashell. Inspired by the uncertainties of young adulthood, the story follows Emma, a girl navigating overwhelming truths about life and time as she listens to the shell’s cryptic messages. I often find myself frozen contemplating over life's meaning/my purpose in it, embracing this uncertainty, and finding beauty in these fleeting moments—feelings I am sure resonate with every 20 something year old. Through abstract patterns, expressive typography, and layered visuals, this zine mirrors the ebb and flow of the past and present, self-reflection, and the ever-changing nature of identity.

We’re the only species that tells stories and lives by the stories we tell.”

project description

In this project, I was tasked with exploring an ordinary object of mine. I needed to analyze the structural and physical aspects of an everyday object thoroughly and create patterns/illustrations. Also, I had to create an engaging narrative of the unconventional function of the very object and put all of my design in the form of a Zine. My thorough investigation and unified design aesthetic in compliance with your story was the key element of this project.
